War, deception, art, and glory come together in the documentary film The Ghost Army, the astonishing true story of American G.I.s — many of whom would later have illustrious careers in art, design and fashion — who tricked the enemy with rubber tanks, sound effects, and carefully crafted illusions during the Second World War. Filmmaker Rick Beyer tells a remarkable story of a top-secret mission that was at once absurd, deadly and amazingly effective.

It was really interesting to see these artistic types talk about going to war, even as they (mostly) didn’t see any real fighting. Everyone has prob seen the picture of thedudes lifting up the inflatable tank.

What I never heard about was the sound fx and the fake blowup artillary. the fake airbases, etc. really cool if you can ever catch it.

Also the sketchbooks these guys kept were fucking crazy. I’ve seen a few soldiers sketches things, but these guys were super talented and captured some amazing moments.

Also they got tons of pussy in France as they waited for their next orders…
